Two more valuable things to know in this situation are:

1.) Do you REALLY need to buy more copies of BBEdit, or can you just get away with TextWrangler, and
2.) Can you get the academic discount?

I find that a lot of people in other groups in my own institution still think that BBEdit Lite is what they should be using (they never heard of TextWrangler), and when you tell them about TextWrangler, it doesn't stick in their brain, because it doesn't sound like a product they've ever heard of or would want to use (same with Yojimbo, both very silly names). I think if Barebones had stuck with calling the free version of BBEdit "BBEdit Lite" and had marketed it more, people would know about it and be using it (like: "Hey, have you tried the new BBEdit Lite 8.0?" instead of "what the hell is this TextWrangler thing?").

In situations like that dialog nag, or other license-decision points, it might be nice for Barebones to provide a link to this page: <http://barebones.com/products/bbedit/threeway.shtml> to help educate users about TextWrangler. A lot of times that's all people really need. If they find they still need BBEdit after being properly educated, then they can decide whether or not to purchase additional copies in an informed way.

People don't know about the academic discount, either. Every time I meet another BBEdit user in peer institutions or even other groups in my own institution, they've never heard about the discount. That makes a HUGE difference in departmental purchasing decisions, so educating people about that is really useful, too.
