Good morning all,
We are pleased to announce the release and immediate
availability of BBEdit 8.5. This is a major upgrade, with a
great many changes and improvements, including (but by no means
limited to):
+ User interface modernizations;
+ Revised and simplified preferences, with searching ability;
+ Code folding;
+ Enhanced Clippings system (formerly known as the "glossary");
+ Additional built-in languages: Ruby, SQL, YAML; and
enhanced JavaScript support;
+ Find Differences displays intra-line differences;
+ Disk Browser improvements: layout changes, a hierarchical
file listing,
and file filtering;
+ HTML transformations and Tidy commands now available to Text Factories;
+ Auto-save;
+ Seamlessly read & write gzip-compressed text files;
+ Lots more...
...and yes, updated application and document icons.
We've also revised and simplified the pricing. A new BBEdit
license now costs US$125 (previously US$199). Special pricing
for educational users remains in effect: <http://www.barebones.com/store/academic.shtml>.
Upgrades to BBEdit 8.5 are free if you purchased BBEdit 8.2.x on
after 1/1/2006.
Upgrades to BBEdit 8.5 are US$30 for owners of BBEdit 8.x
licenses purchased through 12/13/2005, and US$40 for owners of
older commercial versions.
