Hi Riccardo,

What kind of document? Something with a DOCTYPE in it? (like html or xml)

In that case, it needs to have the correct encoding in the doctype as well, as BBEdit will use that if there is no BOM to tell it what the encoding is.

Hi there:

I have a document that insists on opening as "Unicode UTF-8, no BOM".

I change it's encoding in Document Options to "Western ISO-Latin-9" and save it, but when I open it again, it's back to Unicode.

Any clues?

I'm changing it to "Western ISO-Latin-9" because sometimes I get a message saying that the document encoding is malformed or damaged Unicode. ... ???

Thanks,

Riccardo
