Patrick and company.

It's been six weeks and I've been remiss in properly complaining about the FTP feature set. Sorry -- been the summer and I've gotten lax.

But I'm here now, trying to amend my evil ways and catch up with my complaining. Once again, the only part of BBEdit that doesn't leave me with an illegal smile is the behavior of the changes made to the FTP dialogs and functionality. The most annoying, and only one that causes me to lose face with clients is the spinning beachball of death due to the mysterious lack of a cancel-able connect-to-server dialog.

When using the ftp feature to connect to a server, if one enters in the wrong IP (for instance), there is no way to gracefully escape the request (command-period). One has to wait for the timeout, and that's on the order of 60 seconds.

While we await the timeout, the FTP dialog box remains the foremost window, obscuring any other application that is brought to the foreground.

Bad form, says I. BBEdit should be well-behaved and tolerant of its Master's mistakes, properly standing down when asked to do so, not taking over the screen when stubbornly attempting connection to deaf or nonexistant servers.

Shame on this pup -- it ain't hunting right. Using a PowerBook, 10.4.10. BBEdit 8.6.2

STill whining and cryin' about it. Please tell me it happens to others. Or tell me it doesn't. Sanity is such a cheap thrill these days.
