I haven't been doing many "difficult" things with BBEdit since I got
it but I seem to have thrown myself a curve. I have a large web
page, developed over the last couple of years that has gotten rather
unwieldy due to several hands being in the "pot"
It's an Embedded Perl document so it has the "usual" embperl
constructs. For those unfamiliar with embperl it is a similar form
of document to PHP, with escape constructs to shift from Perl to HTML
and back.
What I would like to do is "clean up" the formatting and, hopefully,
to determine if there are any unbalanced constructs. I'm especially
interested in catching something like:
<table>
<tr><td>
<form>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</form>
Which, I suspect, has happened at least once and, as I understand it,
is not legitimate (although the browsers may handle it ...)
I downloaded tidy and ran it but it clearly need a bit more care and
feeding on my part to make it do what I want. I'm very willing to
delve into that but am I tilting at windmills? I thought I'd throw
this out for advice to this group and, hopefully, save some time
finding the optimal path. Where should I be concentrating my efforts?
TIA,
Bill W
