It sounds like you typed the quotes with "Smart Quotes" turned
on. I know of no Unix shell or command interpreter that knows
how to deal with such in command structures, so cleaning up your
file with the "Straighten Quotes" command then turning off
"Smart Quotes" in the preferences is probably a good course of action.
