[er, it appears that this bounced because the signature was enabled. If it wasn't this message, apologies ]

I got a (MacOS Error code: -4960) when trying to open a file that I created with this command:

$ strings ~/Library/Mail/Signatures/*webarchive | bbedit

I get the same error if I redirect to 'sigs.txt' and then try to open the file in bbedit directly.

I can vi the file just fine, and in the terminal I don't see any weird characters:

$ cat -v ~/Desktop/sigs.txt | more
bplist00

^WebResourceURL_
WebResourceTextEncodingName_
WebResourceMIMEType_

(Just to show that the cat -v and cat are the same and that ^WebResourceURL_ is not a control-W)

Can anyone confirm this before I go whine to support? BBEdit 8.7.2 under Leopard 10.5.1.

If I open the file in vi, insert a space, save the file, then BBedit can open it without an error.
