I don't even think this should be a preference setting, just the
right way for BBEdit to behave when called with -w.
Agreed, when a program that starts a gui is called from a shell
interface, whether that is another application or an actual shell,
then
that program, when closed, should return active status and focus to
the
calling program.
See --resume in the man page.
