EelBait <[email protected]> sez: >BBEdit doesn't seem to allow me to directly enter ASCII control >characters into a file. For editing really old files, is there a way >for BBEdit to allow this? For instance, suppose I need to type the >ASCII "US" (unit separator) into a file. In "vi", I would simply type >control-_ and ASCII 0x1F would be entered.
You can use BBEdit's ASCII Table palette to insert such characters; please see "ASCII Table" under "Palettes" in the PDF manual. Alternatively, if the system Input (flag) menu is enabled, you can use the Unicode Hex Input method to insert arbitrary characters by typing their values.
