Mine is more like the one presented by J Corbin: 
http://github.com/jcorbin/zsh-git - my command line looks like this:

[a...@lancelot:~/.zsh.d]
11:20 [0|2014]%                                                       master []

The right-hand-side prompt disappears when the text I'm typing catches up to it 
(it's a ZSH-ism, but I think BASH has a similar feature).

Everyone marches to a different drum, and all that :)
