hello, i have been searching forever trying to find something that will let me do some finding then copying and pasting into a new file. apple automator was a big fail here. so, i am wondering if bbedit can do it.
i have a bunch of text files - a bunch of stats from some game software. all the states have a clear label. so, i want to search through each file, then grab a number value that is next to a text string - however, the text string repeats. so, i just need say the 3rd instance of the text string. so, something like - open file, find text - find again - find again - select next to the text string till the end of the line - copy - paste that value in a new file. is this even remotely possible? with anything? from what i gathered, bbedit has the most powerful text searching tools on the mac. can that be scripted in some way? been searching for a long time for a solution, but with my limited knowledge of bbedit, not sure if it can do this. just a yes or no would be good - then, i can buckle down and figure out how. thanks! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "BBEdit Talk" discussion group on Google Groups.
