The point is that if you don't want those files to appear, the place to address it is in Growl's settings. You can access those in System preferences, or possibly from the Growl menu, if it's enabled.

When the Growl settings pane opens, click the Applications tab. From what you're saying, BBEdit will be checked. Either uncheck BBEdit -- and lose the use of Growl in BBEdit -- or select it and click the Configure... button for more options.

Will you miss Growl if you disable it in BBEdit? That depends on your computing style, and how much you've found it handy, perhaps without knowingly setting it up.

For me, Growl is a great idea. But I find its actual balance of usefulness vs intrusiveness doesn't quite work for me, so I end up turning it off for most applications after trying it for a while. Sometimes I turn it back on for specific uses.

Will Growl's usefulness outweigh having some files show up in the Trash? If you disable it and don't miss it, the question is moot.
