Hi All… I use BBEdit daily to run series of search/replace scripts for e-text conversions. I use an input/output file and keep the output file open in parallel with my script to view changes, etc. This works well for my needs, but I'm always looking to speed it up, especially when the script gets long or I'm working with a large source file.
Questions: I've noticed that there is often a lag in updating the output file, even though I can watch it write to and update the file in Finder. Are there any settings/prefs that can speed this up? I also notice that I often have to reload the output file from disk to update changes, but it is inconsistent. Sometimes with small files, others large, etc. Any tips on this? …… In addition, I'd love to connect with anyone who is in similar work to swap tips, etc. on workflow and regex.
