As far as I know BBEdit isn't a Cocoa app, so mucking about with the keyboard mappings for Cocoa apps doesn't affect it. I was going to suggest that you could go into the "Menus" Preference setting and do your own mappings there, but as it turns out, you can't map something with only option as a command. It's possible you could do this with a third-party utility like Keyboard Maestro but it might be more trouble than it's worth.

BBEdit's Emacs mappings are (IMO) more of a convenience for people who have some basic mappings memorized like the ^A/^E that work in so many places across OS X apps that even those of us who don't regularly use Emacs get them burned in. :) But it may really have to be approached as its own program, for better and worse.
