Dear Rich

I thougth I would file a bug report here so you have to copy it to the bug report database. Hope this helps fill the empty days you must be having with a new version and an OS change to deal with.

My list seems to work erratically now. I am used to fairly responsible users who read the release notes for new releases, download the new version after due consideration or even - god help us - download a demo to check that their vital workflows are not broken, and try out the new version in a 'sandboxed' way for a couple of weeks. They then carefully explain the issue, ask for help with workarounds and/or file a bug report when they have a useful and constructive account to give of the specifics.

Instead I keep seeing stuff like "why couldn't 10 be identical to 9 in every respect except the two I just thought of?" and "when is the Palm version coming out?"

Not all of them are like that of course. You managed to get some of the code right there, well done!

But while I'm here, I do have a helpful suggestion for next time you release an update. As an amateur software user, who doesn't need to read manuals and stuff, for academia rather than a businessman and/or codemaster, I am probably in a good position to do so. Could you please make a point of identifying which change in version 11, when it comes, will affect my particular circumstances and put it at the top of the list please, in big neon letters? Not too bright, I'll get a migraine as the psychic plug-in will have told you already. And (excuse my bluntness) get the price right! Because it needs to be quite a high price but also a low price. I'm afraid you fell down there but better luck next time!

In the meantime I'm reverting to version 4 as I kind of understood all the functions. I think. It doesn't seem to run under Lion so I'll file a separate bug report about that, please look out for it and prioritise the fix as I'm quite busy.

[ok, folks, I'm WELL out of order here, I admit it. Don't take it too personally, the list has become a blur but...but...some of these messages...really? REALLY?! Every time Rich has to answer an inflammatory or badly thougt out question -- that's YOU saving time* -- we lose it in real bug fixes or new Cocoa bits and pieces. Really. There's a direct link. Honest.]

*We DONT CARE about your time, that 2 seconds you saved being hasty and dashing off a badly written message that did more to annoy than solve anything... We care about Rich's time. A minute of his time fixing code is for all of us. Get over it. There's also no real need to piss him off and waste his energy.
