While Bare Bones only lists the need for authenticated saves as a reason to switch from the MAS version to a direct purchase, you may never know what happens when you contact them directly, following the instructions on http://www.barebones.com/support/bbedit/cmd-line-tools.html Just be honest, and tell support that you really want to continue to enjoy their caffeine rush.
