In the Text Colors preferences panel, there's a setting for "Use custom 
highlight colors:."

In the Text Colors preferences panel, you can check "Highlight insertion 
point:," which will color the whole line (you don't have to make it blatant). 
It's all the more effective in finding the selection in the window.
