I use BBEdit to post to USENET, and I wanted to insert a ^L character into my
post to mark a spoiler boundary. I looked up what I was supposed to do and used
the ASCII palette to insert ASCII-12, which put '\f' into the BBEdit window.

However, when i posted to USENET, what appeared in the post was \f, not ^L.

Spoiler warning!
\f

just like that.

I had to open the file in vi and manually replace the characters with a ^V^L to
get the bare ^L I wanted into the file.
