Thank you. I was going to try the manual method but I found I also was able 
to get around this and still use BBEdit by going to:

http://www.adobe.com/support/dreamweaver/downloads_updaters.html

and applying the latest DW patch. Apparently it is not handled in the usual 
Adobe updater. They seem to play well again with that checkbox. :-D
