As to BBEdit's AppleScript support (leaving aside that, although supposedly unsupported, targeting windows with AppleScript still works), I regard this kind of change as utterly gratuitous. It seems to have been designed for the sole purpose of making me change hundreds of scripts. I don't know if this is of any interest to its developers, but it's this kind of issue that made me very reluctant to upgrade at all. (I only upgraded because I got an App Store gift card; I now regret using it for BBEdit 10.5.1.)

There is a demo version you could have tried first. Also, your previous version of BBEdit is still works the same so you can use that and your scripts will work fine. You don't need to make any changes to your scripts.

It is unfortunate you spent money on a product before demoing it first. I don't have any suggestions for solving that.
