I assume you know that you don't have to show the files list, and that you can toggle it open/closed with a keyboard command. Also, you can have the drop-down menu in the toolbar to get quick access to the files you have open in BBEdit.

Given that, we users can't be any more help, so your request would get more productive results if sent to Barebones support.
