Good { morning, afternoon, evening },

We're working on an update to BBEdit 11.0 to address a few recently reported issues.

Note that this is a _pre-release_ version. The intent is to fix bugs and address areas of improvement based on what our customers have reported. However, since the software is at this point not fully tested, there _may_ be bugs and regressions. If this prospect makes you nervous, then sticking with the public release versions is your best course of action. Nobody will be offended if you choose to do so; you're under no obligation to install and use anything but a public release. :-)

Following is a summary of the changes in the software since the last pre-release build <https://groups.google.com/d/msg/bbedit/DQ4rOEtXGf8/UNRVCAvmh5gJ>. The change notes are organized into additions, changes, and fixes, and are annotated where appropriate with case numbers. So if you recognize a number corresponding to a support case that was opened for you, you can now verify that it's been fixed correctly. Please take the time to review the changes before using the new build -- it'll be worth your time.

One final note: If you run into a bug in a pre-release version, PLEASE DO NOT REPORT THE BUG TO THE LIST. This includes asking about whether others have seen the same problem. Instead, please send a bug report to <[email protected]> and we will deal with it there. This will help us keep the list discussion on topic and productive for all list members.

Fixes
-----

* [NFR] Extended the fix for [297756] to cover the case of
    single-file comparisons.

* Fixed bug in which Subversion working-copy dialogs didn't
    remember folders that were chosen while using those dialogs.

* [INT] The "Edit License" panel now uses NSFullUserName() instead
of the "me" card to avoid triggering "BBEdit wants to access your
    Contacts". The plist entry has been updated to reflect the only
    remaining usage (order form autofill for in-app ordering).

* Updated the Expert Preferences help to include
    `UseTabKeyAsCompletionTrigger`.

* [298289] Fixed bug in hex-color and number coloring in the CSS
    language module.

* [298266] Fixed bug in which out-of-memory conditions in the
    HTML/XML function scanner (which also generates folds) weren't
    caught when they occurred (when opening giant files).

* [298266] Fixed bug in which out-of-memory conditions in the
    HTML/XML syntax-coloring scanner weren't caught when they
    occurred (when opening giant files).

*   [297366] Fixed bug in which the `PHP in HTML` and `Ruby in HTML`
    language modules did not properly declare that certain runs were
    eligible for spell checking.

* [298213] Made some improvements to the path shortening used in
    Differences results windows.

* [297728] Fixed bug in which Grep patterns listed in the Setup
    window could not be reordered.

* The Find Differences dialog box now correctly adds directories
    being compared to the Open Recent list, and fixes a bug in which
    previously used locations would sometimes be forgotten.

*   [297757] Right-clicking in a CSS/SCSS document no longer
    triggers an error alert if a parsing error occurs.
