On the update announcements, it always says: 

Pre-release builds are now available the built-in Check For Updates, if 
desired. To enable this, you will need to run the following command (only 
once):

   defaults write com.barebones.bbedit SUFeedURL -string "
http://pine.barebones.com/seeding/BBEdit.xml";

(As with pre-release builds and change notes, this feed URL is 
confidential.)

I think I've done this, but BBEdit is not connecting with the update 
process somehow.

Is there a way of checking to see if I've issued this command?

I certainly don't want to issue it twice.
