Good morning,

I'm coming in late on this, so apologies if I'm way off target.

Well; this has to sound lazy, but I had really hoped for a way to process whatever is in "A" and copy it to "B" without any manual intervention; maybe even triggered by changes (= new files) in "A".

Automating copies has to be one of the easiest things to script. Don't let making a folder copy stop you automating the process. It's (almost) always a good idea to make a copy before doing bulk changes; just delete original folder when done, and rename new folder. They are all common (& easy) scripting operations.

Thank you for your answers, everyone. I might just "change horses" and have someone code a PHP script to do this, including the text processing. BBEdit still does a million other great things for me.

PHP?? Really? For what reason? It would have to be one of the worst tools for text manipulation. I'd even grab python before I grabbed for PHP. I prefer tools originally designed for text manipulation, such as "Practical Extraction and Reporting Language" (AKA Perl).

But again, I missed your original query, so I could be off target with that suggestion.

PS. Perl has other common abbreviation meanings, I purposefully ignored them for this conversation. PPS. No python slurs intended; I believe in personal choice, as long as its personal, and not just following the herd. Python does have good uses. PPPS. PHP slurs were very intentional. I've yet to see the usage in which PHP is the best solution. But no desire for flame wars, arguing personal choices is fruitless.
