Tile Across doesn't fill the screen. It leaves room for the Dock, even if the Dock is hidden. And it doesn't use OS X’s full-screen mode (yes, I know I can hide the menu bar, but that's not what I want).
It appears the answer to my question is 'no' - at least for now.
