The features which differentiate BBEdit primarily seem to have to do with HTML coding, automation, scripting, integration with source control, and project management. They mostly benefit those who spend all day programming, have need to automate repetitive data mangling, or who work with teams of programmers. I've made use of many of these features over the years, but on a day to day basis, Text Wrangler probably would handle most of my needs. I gladly pay for BBEdit anyway since it's such an essential tool to my business and at times those more advanced features can save a lot of hassle.
