is multithreaded so that displaying doesn't slow the search down.)

You can, using the "Options" button in the Multi-File Search
window. Turn off "Search compressed files."
3. Instead of enumerating matching files itself, could BBEdit
make use of the OS to do that?
Multi-file searching already uses the file system APIs, which is
what the command would do. So this will not increase
performance. :-)
