Hi, as syntax coloring is bound to the language your are using, I think, there is no official way to do this. You might try „Use custom highlight colors“ in the Preferences (under „Text Colors“). This makes selected text in active and background windows appear different. Of course you would have to select the text in your reference window and of course you would only change the selection color.
