Try adding "kit" as a filename extension mapped to HTML, in the Languages preferences. This will map the extension directly without relying on guesswork.

In that case, check the language popup in the status bar and see whether "(automatic)" is selected; if it is, please proceed to write a request to <[email protected]>.
