I’m currently running BBEdit 14 on MacOS 11.6. This behavior change might have to do with upgrading from Mojave to Big Sur in one jump when I upgraded to a new m1 iMac, or with a recent BBEdit upgrade, or with the fact that I reinstalled BBEdit pretty much from scratch when I upgraded my system.
Anyway, I am now getting tilde-suffixed backup files when I save a file in BBEdit. I don’t think that I ever saw this behavior before in many, many years of BBEdit use.
