I have, or had a paranoid wu-ftpd set up. I disabled this eventually
   in it's ftpaccess file:

# deny <addr_glob> <message>
#deny !nameserved /usr/local/etc/ftp/msgs/nodns

----------- from "man ftpaccess":
       deny <addrglob> <message_file>

Always deny access to host(s) matching <addrglob>.
  <message_file> is displayed.
<addr-glob> may be "!nameserved" to deny access to sites
without a working nameserver. It may also be the name of a file...

BUT FRANKLY, I've had ZERO luck with "ftpaccess" lately!
(e.g., can't seem to get it to allow "delete|overwrite")

Those of us desiring an "internal/trivial" ftp server for linux,
best we can find?? is hell-to-config stuff. Roughly the same
level of expertise required for wu-ftpd or ncftp or ??, right?
It's ugly, which is fair for an external ftp server,
                  unfair for trusting/internal ones!
therefore i am:
Dreaming of a "HOW TO" for redhat7 or its favorite ftpd pkgs/rpm's...
