I don't know much about DG-UX, but assuming it is like most other flavors
of unix; how about using 'newfs -N' to see where backup superblocks
_would_ be created if this was a real newfs, then try feeding those backup
blocks to 'fsck -b' until you find one that is still valid?

Note: Please check the DG-UX man page for newfs to confirm that the -N
flag does what is expected.
