We have recently
added some newer AIX boxes to our heterogenous Unix network. After one of
the boxes crashed, I could find no useful information under /var/adm, /var/log
or /var/msgs. I checked out syslog.conf and found it was sending some
messages to /dev/console and others to /tmp/syslog.out (which disappears when
the system reboots).
Does anyone have a prefered configuration for syslog.conf which will generate output similar in usefulness to the default output to /var/adm/messages on solaris?
Any help will
be appreciated.
