I did something similar a number of years ago. If you know the layout of the old partition table, you can simply create a new identical table and everything should be good. If you don't know the layout, there are tools that can scan the disk looking for the beginnings of filesystems. I found one such tool on sunsite.unc.edu (no, wait, that's metalab.unc.edu... err, no, ibiblio.org. Silly name changes.) noah
