The last time someone asked about disk-to-disk backup solutions, people
mentioned both FauBackup and rsync. So, now I'm in the same boat and I
decided to check them both out. At first I thought a specialized backup
tool like FauBackup might be better for backups than a general tool like
rsync, but in going over the web pages for each, I don't notice anything
that Faubackup does that rysnc doesn't also do. Is there any reason
that I should prefer Faubackup to rsync? Without a good reason to
prefer it, it seems that I should go with what is more general and more
widely used.

P.S. If possible, I'd really like to have the snapshots be compressed.
Does anyone know if either of these tools can be easily configured to do
that. Alternatively, has anyone been able to install and seriously beat
on a compressed filesystem with Red Hat 9.0 and verified that it is
robust.
