EIDE drive in a Pent II system with old bios; compant is LONG out of business.
I have a western digital EIDE 30 gig hd. I runs great in my older P1 machine. REcently (as I got laid-off, and had to turn in my nice P4 laptop on the way out the door) I went to put it into one of my Pentium II machines that have WAY more memory. SURPRISE, the bios in the PII is actually older and doesn't recognize the hard drive...I see no indication of being able to flash upgrade the bios either. Years ago there used to be two ways around this, software and hardware. Since I don't want to reformat the drive I'm leaning toward hardware, dependant upon cost. Any suggestions? p.s. Yes, new purchase is kind out of the question at this point. Ken ******* Kenneth J.
