Yep, I have a cable modem at home. that I'm not using because I have FIOS now.
But I went out to Best Buy/Target and bought it when I was on Comcast because
my Cable Modem provided by Comcast failed on a friday night. I went out and
got the unit to verify it was the Cable Modem after spending 2 hours on the
phone having them tell me the lack of link on the Ethernet side was caused by a
bad driver on my XP box. EVen though I couldn't get link on a switch, a
WRT-54G, a laptop (dual boot XP, and Linux) or a Desktop (I guess the script
doesn't have an option for User has a whole house full of ethernet devices.)

So i went out bought it knowing I could get myself back up for the weekend and
worst case I could just return it.

Turns out Comcast is all set for a user to plug any DOCSIS cablemodem in. I
was back up and running in about 30 minutes (with out an XP reinstall), then I
did some quick math and said I'm keeping the one I bought because if it lasted
(I think 8 months) it was break even.
