Hi guys,

I recently got a HP nx6125 notebook featuring a BroadCom 'Air Force One'
WiFi-Card builtin. The following sources provided were used:

bcm43xx-20060125
bcm43xx-fwcutter-20060125
softmac-snapshot # Was not able to determine version

linux-2.6.15-gentoo-r1 # No guarantee for what they call patch
wl_apsta.o # Firmware container:

bcm43xx_initval01.fw bcm43xx_initval07.fw bcm43xx_microcode4.fw
bcm43xx_initval02.fw bcm43xx_initval08.fw bcm43xx_microcode5.fw
bcm43xx_initval03.fw bcm43xx_initval09.fw bcm43xx_pcm4.fw
bcm43xx_initval04.fw bcm43xx_initval10.fw bcm43xx_pcm5.fw
bcm43xx_initval05.fw bcm43xx_microcode11.fw
bcm43xx_initval06.fw bcm43xx_microcode2.fw

The following modules are loaded:

Module Size Used by
ieee80211_crypt_wep 4864 8
bcm43xx 414720 0
ieee80211softmac 23296 1 bcm43xx
ieee80211 42216 2 bcm43xx,ieee80211softmac
ieee80211_crypt 5248 2 ieee80211_crypt_wep,ieee80211

ifconfig eth1:

eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:14:A5:2D:60:E6
          UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:156 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
          RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:7488 (7.3 Kb)
          Interrupt:50 Base address:0x8000

iwconfig eth1:

eth1 IEEE 802.11b/g ESSID:"bitsexuell23" Nickname:"Broadcom 4318"
Mode:Managed Frequency=2.472 GHz Access Point: Invalid
          Bit Rate=11 Mb/s Tx-Power=2346 dBm
          RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
          Encryption key:off

So far so good. I have set the rate to 11M after trial n+x to 11M.

As the 'iwconfig' output shows, it's possible to set the essid. The little
blue LEDs are glowing ( *smile* ), it's up...

...then I issued a 'iwconfig eth1 essid f0f0f0f0f0':

# iwconfig eth1 key f0f0f0f0f0
Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A) :
SET failed on device eth1 ; Operation not supported.

A 'iwconfig eth1 enc f0f0-f0f0-f0' fails with the same response.

Anything specific I could try to debug or forgot to tell?

Thanks so far,

        Lukas
