That depends on your needs.

The number of patches does not say anything here.
Many of the bcm43xx-d80211 patches here are very small.
And the two branches were not completely in sync, last time I requested
a pull. But that was expected.

I don't remember all of the functional advantages of d80211, but
there is the partially working RTS/CTS support, now.
This is not working in the softmac branch, yet. (But shouldn't be
too hard to implement, though).
There is more advanced encryption support (as far as I know).
There is the _potential_ for AP mode support. I did not try AP
mode, yet, but I think there is not much missing.
Someone continue the list. :)
