He already has those, the previously used lspcmcia command comes from there.

I doubt that 16bit PCMCIA cards are supported but 32bit Cardbus card work fine 
(no difference to PCI).
Does your notebook have a Cardbus slot or ony a PCMCIA slot (or to say: how 
old is it?). Note that they are both named PCMCIA in advertisements.
