Hi,

I've been using the bcm43xx module for about 11 mths now on an Acer Aspire
with the 4318 chipset.

I have been using the Netdev kernels from Mr Linville (much respect) and
had success with all the kernels up to Netdev.5 which is the last of the
2.6.16 kernels (with or without WPA). I've had very unreliable sucess
with newer kernels than this (I get the much publicised <10 attenuation
errors).

So my question is, what exactly changed between the code released by John
in the 2.6.16 kernel and anything above this?
Is it that changes within the kernel itself caused problems or was it
changes to code in the module?
Or, thirdly, is it just pure chance that it works with 2.6.16 and nothing
newer?

I am in a very clean area for wireless traffic, there are no other AP's
within scan range and so I'm not convinced that the power problem is the
only thing stopping this chip working with newer kernels, especially since
when I do get some success with newer kernels the stats give me a signal
quality of >85%.

Hope this helps and doesn't offend. I'm just curious.

Thanks.
Simon.
