Hi all,
i have just reinstalled Ubuntu Edgy on my ibook g4 (12'') with an
Airport Express card.

The first thing that puzzled me is that the fwcutter doesn't recognize
the AppleAirport2 file from MacOS X to get the firmware to be put in
/lib/firmware/(kernelversionoptionally).

I can provide extended information as needed, as now i am just
investingating known issues.

The second thing is that, even if i get the firmware in place (taken
from wl_apsta.o and extracted with fwcutter), i can't use the Airport
Express: at boot time (and everytime i modprobe the module) dmesg
states bcm is found and ieee802whatelse is in place, but issuing
iwconfig eth1 essid *myessid*

isn't working, it doesn't change a thing.

Where's the problem? Where should i look into?

TIA for you help,

marco

PS
Using kernel version 2.6.17, bcm43xx-fwcutter version 20060501
