Michael,

With your experience with the bcm43xx and other drivers, I hope you can help
me. With my new Turion
64 X2 laptop with a Dell 1390 (BCM4311) wireless card, I am getting no
transmissions. I don't know
about received data. If I let it try to scan long enough, I get lots of the
following messages logged:

bcm43xx: Out of DMA descriptor slots!

When I shut the card down, I get the following slot usage:

bcm43xx: DMA-32 0x0200 (RX) max used slots: 0/64
bcm43xx: DMA-32 0x02A0 (TX) max used slots: 0/512
bcm43xx: DMA-32 0x0280 (TX) max used slots: 0/512
bcm43xx: DMA-32 0x0260 (TX) max used slots: 0/512
bcm43xx: DMA-32 0x0240 (TX) max used slots: 0/512
bcm43xx: DMA-32 0x0220 (TX) max used slots: 512/512
bcm43xx: DMA-32 0x0200 (TX) max used slots: 0/512

Obviously, the TX DMA is not getting through. I'm running an x86_64 system. The
behavior is the same
whether I configure SMP or not. This card will not work in PIO mode, so I
cannot test it that way.
I'm a little reluctant to reload an i386 system, but I could if necessary.

When I boot the wireless-dev kernel, it works. I have looked at the differences
between wireless-2.6
and wireless-dev, but I don't see anything other than the obvious design
differences.

Have you seen anything like this before? If so, where should I look? I didn't
want to bother you,
but I'm not making any headway.

Larry
