Sorry it too me so long to test this, but all I have to say is "Golden!"

It scans, it associates, it does tricks.  And all this without a
message about dropping down to PIO mode or panicing the kernel!

It appears others have tested this already and so far all reports are
positive.  Time to push it to mainline?

Tested with vanilla kernel 2.6.20-rc5 with only this patch.
eMachines m6809 notebook with a bcm4306 rev03, 1.2GB RAM
