There isn't enough information to tell what happened, but it looks as if NetworkManager didn't bring the interface up. Sometimes the softmac version gets in a condition where NM tries and then immediately shuts down again. Sometimes a 'modprobe -rv bcm43xx' followed by a 'modprobe -v bcm43xx' will restore it. Sometimes it takes a reboot. I can tell this situation on my 4311 because the LED is off.
