There have been reports that the BCM4306/2 device used to work better than it
does in b43legacy. I
worked Friday night and Saturday trying to discover which kernel versions might
work better, but I
did not succeed. I tested 2.6.18.2, 2.6.19, and 2.6.20. All 3 gave iperf
transmission rates of 5 Mbs
and receive rates of 3 Mbs with a bit rate of 11M. At 24M, I sometimes saw
rates up to 2 Mbs, but
these were transient. The "stable" rate was 0.3 Mbs.

If you have a specific kernel that reliably gets higher rates at 24M than it
does at 11M, please
tell me which version, and what firmware you are using, in case that is
important.

Just to reiterate, the card of interest is the one that uses b43legacy, not
b43. From what I hear,
the BCM4306s that use b43 are working OK.

Thanks,

Larry
