Hey, I've had a lot of connection problems with b43.
bcm43xx didn't work for me either under 2.6.24.
Now with 2.6.24.3 it's working flawlessly.

 My configuration
Acer Extensa 5220
 Kubuntu Gutsy x64 7.10
 Linux * 2.6.24.2(vanilla) #10 PREEMPT * x86_64 GNU/Linux

 wpa_supplicant-0.5.9 from source

the tests were all made several times,
 without moving the laptop
 connection quality 55-60
scan_ssid is active in wpa_supplicant.conf for faster association

 with b43 from wireless-compat(v2.6.25-rc3-1062-g7db6747)
 (and new firmware v.4.150.10.5)
a card and firmware load message appears in dmesg,
but nothing else and the card is not shown in ifconfig -a

b43 from 2.6.24 and old firmware
card shown but always association time out
constant messages authentication packet received, but
not in authentication state, packet ignored

 with b43 from older wireless-compat (v2.6.24-818-gd86916b)
 (and new firmware v.4.150.10.5)
association fine (wpa_supplicant says "COMPLETED"), but
 no packets coming through afterwards,

 with b43 from older wireless-compat (v2.6.24-818-gd86916b)
 (and new firmware v.4.150.10.5)
 and nohwcrypt=1
association fine, and connection fine at first,
but only a few packets come through and only at
the beginning (about 3-5 pings/7 seconds), then maybe one more,
then no connection at all. have to reset several times
with intensive trying, about after 20-30 retries,
reloading the module with each try
a connection sometimes works for about 30-60 minutes,
than hangs again. without moving the notebook.
 below 56, connection drops.

under windows and with ndiswrapper and
Wireless_Broadcom_4311_v4.100.15.5_XP.zip
association fine, connection fine. tx-power 32 dB (instead of 18/27 i think)
signal quality shown between 15-22, below 15, connection drops

now with kernel 2.6.24.3 it's working flawlessly. without nohwcrypt as well :)

If someone wants to find out why this happened - what information will
be needed?

Cheers
