I'm not going to pretend to know anything about this card, but I've 
never known HP to use any sort of OEM wireless card. Both of the HP 
laptops I've owned have been standard models, 4311 and, recently, a 
4328. On all of the other HP laptops, more of the same.

Possibly some new card? I'm not sure though. Just thought I'd insert 
what little I did know.
