Ah, ok. I was brought directly to the "Devices" page by Google and didn't know to read "Home" as well. As far as I recall, I never had any problems with it, neither with the original or any updated kernel. I'll re-test this with a live CD to be sure. I don't believe I ever installed kernels from other sources than the Ubuntu "main" and "updates" repositories.
