1st of all i'm sorry dat i don't know if there is any IDE like Microsoft's Visual IDE in linux.
2ndly i know a IDE that is better than any other IDE. That is Emacs. U need to spend some time to mastering emacs. Truly speaking need 15 to 30 days to be a intermediate user of emacs and for mastering emacs u need more time. Many user come the Microsoft's Visual IDE don't want this pain. But once u ar master emacs u can very efficiently use it form various purpose like shell scripting, perl programming, c/c++, java, vlsi, vhdl,debugging using gdb, shell browing, ... actually a lot of things.
